Apple is making a couple of major changes to its iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max in the past year. First, they’re now crafted from Grade 5 Titanium with a slightly model that is curved, which should make them easier to hold over long periods of time. Apple has changed the mute switch with a customizable Action button that allows shortcuts to be activated or activate accessibility features additional.
Comparison to Older Models
Apple is making iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max look not much different than the previous year’s iPhones, and has slimmer bezels around their gorgeous large displays. That makes them more comfortable and ergonomic be held, but the larger phones weigh more.
The most significant difference is the addition of the A17 Pro chip on the Pro models. This chip offers around 10% higher performance compared to the earlier chips. This is mainly thanks to the 3nm manufacturing process however, it is also due to microarchitectural and design improvements.
The Pro models also have certain features only available to them, like USB-C connectivity for greater speed of transfer. This allows ProRes to be recorded directly onto external storage devices, which could be popular with video makers. Its TrueDepth front camera comes with certain improvements, and it can produce 4K video at 60fps to allow HDR streaming on devices that are not connected to the internet. Also, there’s the brand new Digital AV Multiport Adapter which allows users to connect HDMI monitors as well as standard USB devices.
Apple has loaded the iPhone 15 Pro Max with several significant improvements, while remaining largely similar to previous models. In the beginning it has it’s now available with the Dynamic Island feature and 48-megapixel main camera are now accessible to all models and a brand new Portrait mode that delivers five times better zoom.
The display is also now a little bit narrower on the edges due to slimmer bezels. It’s the same 6.7-inch XDR ProMotion OLED HDR display that can run as high as 120Hz refresh rates.
A new Action button is now available to the left of the phone. It’s replaced the slider for mute. It’s a button with a programable function that allows you to launch various applications and also trigger features, for example the flashlight or camera with a single press. It’s in addition to the usual improvements brought by iOS 17 including mood monitoring or interactive widgets. It can also provide help for road emergencies via satellite.
Despite their vast differences in size, both the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max have much in common the iPhone 15 Pro and their predecessors. They’re both equipped with the A17 Pro chip — Apple’s first 3nm chipset.
The chips offer major improvements in graphics and performance that will also aid with battery life a bit. Also, the Titanium chassis is a nice upgrade, too. It will make these phones stronger.
A further change as part of one of the iPhone 15 Pro models is the elimination of the Lightning port. This was replaced with a USB-C port. The USB-C port is an excellent choice since it boosts the speed of data transfers dramatically.
Moreover, the new phones have Wi-Fi connectivity. Additionally, they have an sophisticated feature for location that can work along with roadside assist suppliers. Also, you can customize the Action button, which replaces the mute button and allows you to run customized Shortcuts. Round edges which made their debut in the iPhone 11 series also return this year.
The iPhone 15 Pro Max offers an array of functions compared to previous versions. It includes night mode and Spatial videos (which uses the ultra-wide and main cameras to collect depth information that can be viewed on Apple Vision Pro), improved low-light performance, smart HDR, and new-generation portraits.
Its A17 Pro chip also adds boosted neural processing for better lighting and speedier motion capture. In addition, it is compatible with Augmented Reality features, such as AR games and apps which use depth mapping for improved object tracking.
The other significant changes includes the upgrade to USB-C (it has a reversible connector that allows you to plug in any standard USB device) it offers higher data transfer speeds, and an Action button that replaces the mute switch featuring haptic feedback and customized actions. In contrast to previous versions of iPhones that have rounded edges, this model have been slightly rounded for a more comfortable experience in your hand. Furthermore, the titanium-grade 5 design creates this iPhone 15 Pro Max 10 percent lighter than its predecessor.
